Emotionally the hardest week of my Exchange (Not Gonna Lie).

Image
Last week was probably the hardest week of my exchange been so far away from family.  Especially as I followed my great grandmother's funeral back home.  That was hard, but I know mum wanted me to get on with things.  Managed to keep myself occupied so that I would be distracted but it was hard.  I missed my cousins alot last week I thought about all the things they would do together and I hate to miss out so that made me very emotional. Anyways..... The past week was a blurrr, annddddd now its semester break! (Just for one week).  Yup we have one week semester break and back to school next week.  Which would be my final week here in Austria as I am almost at the end of my exchange.  Time has gone by so fast I am so excited to be going home to NZ to my family.  My mind is with my Nena Evo at the moment so I am looking forward to see Nena. This past week I did quite a bit of shopping at the Sierseberg shopping mall prepping for a...

This is the view from my balcony. A few days after I got here, it snowed and it was absolutely beautiful.  Everything is beautiful and amazing (I think I've used those two words more than any other words throughout this journey because I dont know how else to describe it).  As Landy and Jordan says China is Wakanda welllllllllll I kinda feel the same sentiments "AUSTRIA IS WAKANDA HAHAHAH!!! You like my sexy Olaf!!!   So, this week was my last week of school for 2019.  I came from NZ I had finished school for a week and then I started at a Catholic School for two weeks.  I have had to pay 150 € a month to attend school.  Which is about $250nzd a month, so you work out the math.  I have also had to pay three months worth of bus and tram tickets for me to be able to get to school and home daily.  These were the main things I had to do when I first got here.  Mama organised everything including my sim card bless her.  I hav...

One Common Ancestor.

Kaifofo & Sisimata Tuhega.   17 days and I leave for Austria and as I am about to leave I discover my ancestral roots to Germany.  I have known from my Nena that her grandfather had German roots however I have never been told to great detail about this.  Apparently very few family members were told the story.  So here goes the version I have stumbled upon. My Nena Evo's biological mother is Kelenamata also known as Pisa . Her parents were Kaifofo Tuhega of Tuapa and Sisimata Ikitogia of Makefu.  Very recently I have discovered that Great Great Grandad Kaifofo Tuhega's father was either a Missionary or a German sailor by the name of Keeling.  There were two stories of how he came into contact with our Nena Fakatohesifa.  This piece of the puzzle was said to have been written by the late Afele Paea who married one of Kaifofo's daughters and we thank him for doing that with Kaifofo because that is how I have stumbled across this piece of preci...

4 weeks and counting......

Vaila, Alofi Tokelau, Niue. My countdown calendar reminded me today that I am exactly 1 month away from leaving. That means I have four weeks and I leave home. If you want to follow my blog please subscribe or leave a message below. I am excited but also petrified because I've never been away from home for that long let alone away from my mum for more than a month. We managed to buy my winter gears for half the price and a pair of Timberland boots during labour weekend. Thanks to mum she organised everything. I have always wanted a pair of Timberlands because my godfather/ cousin I look up too has a collection. Now I feel and look very manly. I know I will need them for the snow and the cold. The first weekend of December I am travelling to Hitzendorf via Dubai from Auckland New Zealand. I arrive in Austria and straight to school. The journey will be for three months and I will be attending a Catholic School in Graz. Hitzendorf is approximately twenty minutes from Graz. I ...
